VANCOUVER CANUCKS- After a nervous game for Vancouver fans, they can finally gasp all because of Kevin Bieksa, Roberto Luongo and Ryan Kessler.
After a Alex Burrows goal in the 1st, San Jose received two goals in the second and the beginning of the third. Canucks tried and tried to get the equalizer the whole period. With a minute left in the 3rd, Canucks were still struggling to get it in the net. With 13.2 seconds left, the assistant captain, Ryan Kessler made the goal happen by tipping it in.
Then came Overtime. 17 years ago ,May 24, Canucks won in second overtime against the Maple Leafs to go to the Stanley Cup. The series was 4-1.
Funny thing is, Canucks and San Jose were forced to go to second overtime, on May 24, 2011. Series was 3-1.
Until about 9:00 into 2OT, A. Edler was taking a slapshot but decided not to so he tried to clear the puck to put it behind Antti Niemi's net, but somehow the puck landed next to Kevin Bieksa, with the whole crowd, staff, teams, and Antti Niemi thought it was behind the net, only Kevin Bieksa knew he had it, so he took a slapshot.
And a second after that, everyone watching was confused but just gone with the horn.
Cause like Roberto Luongo said at Round 1: " OT, someone is going to be a hero." And that was Kevin Bieksa.
